Irish Holiday Cottage

Talt Cottage is a three bedroom holiday cottage for hire, just outside the historical town of Ballaghadereen, County Rosscommon, Western Ireland. This traditional cottage has recently been renovated and features all the modern conveniences perfect for a short fishing trip or a long family holiday. It is ideally located 20 mins from Knock International airport, surrounded by stunning countryside and close to some of the best fishing in Ireland.

So whatever your pleasure a stay at Talt Cottage will be an experience of a lifetime.

Talt Cottage is available for hire or rent on a weekly basis for self-catering holidays all year round. Reservations run from Saturday to Saturday. To enable us to keep the cottage clean and ready for new guests please arrive after 2pm and depart before 10am.

Talt cottage is surrounded by 5 acres of beautiful countryside and is very peaceful and gives a breathtaking view of the stars at night. Consequentlely, you will need to hire a car to get around as the nearest shop is 20 mins away by foot or only a 3 minutes drive.

There are several Car Hire companies in Ballaghadereen and Knock International airport.

Talt Cottage just like West Ireland has a strong fishing tradition with my family going back over 3 generations. We have lots of maps and local information to where all the best fishing can be found throughout the year.

A stay at Talt Cottage will place you at the heart of some of the best fishing locations in Western Ireland, including:

• The River Lung is only 1 mile away and celebrated as 'best Coarse Fishing waters in Ireland' - (Good for Roach, Rudd Bream, Perch Eels and Pike)
• Lough Gara - 8 Miles away - (Good for very big Pike)
• Lough Talt - 30 minutes away - (Where our cottage takes its name!)
• Loughs Arrow, Key Cavetown & the River Shannon - are all 45 Miles away
• Sligo or Galway and the Coast - around an 1 hour away if you fancy some sea fishing
• If you want to go shopping or a City break Dublin is only 2 hours away

There is a small selection of rods, reels and nets available for your use at the cottage and there are some shops nearby that sell only basic tackle and bait. The best tackle shops are in the nearby town of Foxford.
